What is the AI review translation feature?



Claude AI automatically translates your customer reviews and widget content into each shopper's browser language. This helps your customers:

Understand reviews easily in their own language

How to use AI review translation powered by Claude



Follow these easy steps to enable and manage translations:

1. Enable Auto-Translation



Go to your dashboard and navigate to Translation
Toggle auto-translation ON to use this feature
This will automatically translate reviews based on language display method like the buyer's browser language or their location in Shopify market settings.



2. Select the language display method



Browser language



Browser language is the language set in your web browser (like Chrome). Websites use this setting to determine which language to display. For example, if your browser is set to German, your Shopify store can automatically show reviews in German if a translation is available.



How to check the browser language:

Open Chrome and go to the menu (three dots) > Settings.
Click Languages on the left sidebar.
Your current browser language will be listed at the top under "Preferred languages".

When you select this method, buyers will see reviews in their browser language if it matches a published translation language in the Kudosi app. If not, the default language will be used.
Example:
If the buyer’s browser language is German and you have published German as a translation in the Kudosi app, reviews will be shown in German.

Shopify market



When you select the display method “Shopify market,” buyers will see reviews in the language of their location as set in Shopify market settings. It depends on which market you set up in Shopify. If the Shopify market matches a published translation language, customers in that country/market will see reviews in their language. If not, the default language is used.



For example:
If your customers are in Germany and, in Shopify market settings, you set Germany and publish German as a translation language, buyers shopping in Germany will see reviews in German.




3. Default language



If no translation languages are selected, reviews will be translated into the default language (e.g., English). If none of the published translation languages match the selected display method (browser language or Shopify market), reviews will also be shown in the default language.

You can change the default language at any time if needed.

For example:

Free users: Google Translate handles English as the default language.

Paid users: Claude handles English as the default language.

4. Select translation language



Choose which languages you'd like to translate into. Click Select a language (e.g., Japanese).
You can add one language at a time.

5. Translate and publish language



Toggle the translation language on to enable publishing
Click "Publish" to confirm
Reviews will be displayed in the selected language based on the shopper’s location



6. Preview your storefront



After publishing language translation, click "View store" to see how the translations appear directly in your store.



Important note



For widget content, you can’t edit the content of widgets in other languages if they were translated by AI. To make changes, switch the widget back to English first. Only the original English content can be customized.
You can unpublish or delete a language at any time.
Some plans may limit how many languages you can publish. Be sure to check your plan details.
When you upgrade from Free to a paid plan (like Super or Super Saiyan), your existing reviews will be automatically re-translated into English using our advanced AI (Claude 3.5 Haiku) and updated on your storefront.
Widgets and reviews are shown in the visitor's browser language if that language is published; otherwise, English is used by default.
